Sometimes something bigger than politics, iPads, and what to have for dinner happens and it makes life that much sweeter. My son is fortunate enough to play for the Dripping Springs 10U All Star team and we have been blessed with wins, sunflower seeds, hot dogs, homeruns, losses, sno-cones, and tears. Through the past 20+ games over the past month, the boys have played some amazing teams one of them being UHO who have earned a trip to the regional championship tonight in Taylor. To make it to the championship UHO has fought their way up from the losers bracket with poise, strong coaching and a fun group of kids who have so much fun playing baseball.

After a good old fashioned butt kicking by UHO on Saturday night, I congratulated the coach and said I look forward to seeing them in Laredo at the Regional Tournament. He then told me he didn't know if they could make it b/c many parents simply couldn't afford to go. I told him a couple of us were in the same boat and we planned on camping at a state park in Laredo.

Long story short: a parent on our team had the same conversation with the head coach, sent a email to everyone wishing there was something we could do and our pitcher against UHO (who gave up 10 runs) got on his phone and texted as many people he could and raised $500 and his dad had  secured a sizable donation by Wal-Mart. The pitcher then called the UHO coach and told him is entry fee was taken care of.

Everyone on this team is moved, motivated and touched. I have never teared up so many times in one day since watching "The Notebook". JUST KIDDING!!
